The title says it all really!
I have some left over pastry and bits and pieces and wondered if I could use a sandwich maker to make some mini pies, a bit like empanadas?
Has anyone tried this? Any hints or tips?
Should I cook the filling first?
All suggestions welcome!

I'm not sure the sandwish maker would cook the pastry properly.
When I have left over pastry I just make pasties by cutting out a circle of pastry and putting the filling on one half of the circle almost to the edge. Fold over the other half of pastry and overlap to form a seal.
And yes. You definitely need to cook the filling first.0 -
Thanks HariboJunkie,
I might just keep everything in the fridge until tomorrow as I don't want to heat up the oven for just a couple of pasties!
I'm really loving all the recipes in OS, and I am cooking from scratch a lot more, but always looking for ways to be creative with the left overs other than soup:D

Cornish pasties don't have carrot in.
(Thought I'd say it before we get hoards of outraged Corns on the thread!)

Those breville pie makers just look like a sandwich maker apart from the holes being pie shaped. I'd be tempted to give it a go.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

I picked one of those Free Recipie booklets up in Sainsburys they other day and they suggested making a fruit toastie in the Sandwich maker
Bread, Apples, squirt of Lemon juice and a little sugar.
I suppose it will be like an apple pie, sounds nice but I haven't tried it yet.
