Former Red Lion looking for G. P. from Leics

hi, not your usual topic, i know but I couldnt think of anywhere else to post.

We went down the br route at the beginning of may and are just getting back on our feet (we have some questions and an update but these will wait).

Someone we knew was considering similar and we referred them to this forum. This person we think has had to move a lot quicker than anticipated and we now cannot contact them by phone, we are hoping this person does actually read this forum and will contact us to let us know you're okay!!!!

We came down today to see you but you werent there and we gleaned you left on Sunday. We hope you are okay, we have a place for you to stay if you need it. Hope you mnagaed to get everything out ok.

You know who you are, please let us know you are ok if you read this, or if we can help in any way.

Love Andy and Zoe

  • Right, here goes, a potted update for you:

We are currently working for a holding company. The company holds pubs for major pubcos and puts managers in to run them. We had 4 weeks reliefing at one which should have been long term but another company came in and took the lease direct from the pubco. Loved it there and really wanted to stay as we felt really at home and the locals were heartbroken when we had to leave as we had turned the place around even in such a short space of time.

We have just been moved to another which is also bed and breakfast in the Derbyshire Dales. Doesnt look like we'll be here long either as we think the freehold has just been sold GRRR! ..........and this after we had been told we'd probably be here long term and so we started unpacking.

Hubby is self employed so we've got to go into all the ramifications of that with the OR, but simply havent had chance yet.

Still fighting not to pay the OR for the caravan, although now it is not my home I think we're going to lose, although I am arguing that if someone had to pay a deposit for rented property the Or wouldnt then demand that, and the caravan saved us from having to do that and also from being homeless.

I think now, however, he can argue that its a leisure item, although I will fight all the way as it wasnt at the time, it was essential.

So, we are back in the game, doing what we love, although not sure how long we'll be at this particular pub for.

A couple of other irons in the fire which I may be able to update more on next week.

Because of all the moves havent been able to get the various boxes of paperwork to the OR so are expecting an a**eholing for that and I think its put paid to any chance of ED, but not all that bothered to be honest.

We just want to get settled with the kids now, although it's great that we're back into the game as it will now bump us up the list with any other companies we apply to. The old in, it's always easier to find a job once you're in one.

Hi FP, glad to hear things are working out for you. One thing you could say about the caravan is that it is your home. You may get a pub job that is not 'live in' and anyway none of them are long term so the caravan really is still your home.

Did your friends get in touch?
