tesco clubcard query

I have just obtained a tesco clubcard from the store after reading on here that you can get some really good deals with the vouchers for holidays, meals etc. I just want to make sure that I am doing everything right. I registered with tesco via quidco the other day. Now do i just go on with my new temp clubcard number and register it? Does anyone know if there are any free points to be had for newbies like me signing up and if so where would I find them?

I am determined to get debt free by 2010 so help me everyone please, this is such an ace site with some brilliant posts:j

Yes register with temp number I think thats what i did?

I don't know anything immediate but there is various clubs you can join and they send you news letters with cupons money off free samples and also vouchers for example 200 extra points when you buy pampers wipes...
and I got a coupon that you just give at the till and they scan it and it enters you into a draw to win 1000 points etc...
    Clubs to join are...
    wine club - http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/worldofwine/
    baby and toddler - http://www.tesco.com/babyclub/join/index.page
    food club - http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/foodclub/
    healthy living - http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/healthyliving/

also look out for people in your tesco store sometimes they are pestering but sometimes good... like i once got 300 points for answering a few questions for a guy and another gave me 1000 points for switching gas company... which saved me money anyway!

  • Getting a Tesco top up SIM card for your mobile always helps. If you top up in store they give you 4 points per £1, minimum top up is £10 so you get 40 points. Theyve also just added 5 favourite numbers half price calls and texts.

Also if your really sneaky you can purchase something in store that you then get the points for and can take the item back a couple of days later. If the assistant is anything like the ones at our local Tesco customer service desk they wont bother asking you for your clubcard to take back the points! Be careful though if its clothes as they must be returned intact with original labels. Food is another dodgy area as they will just replace it. Its another good way to use a 'double your points' coupon. Finally dont forget you still get clubcard points on when you spend clubcard points in store. So not wasted if your desparate for a food shop as theyre equivelant to a 'refund' in clubcard points on nextg statement.

Theres quite a few incentives to sign up to as well for household bills, check first though if its the best price but I often say if you need it and going to use it anyway (eg gas, electric, insurance, internet, telephone, mobile etc etc etc) then get the points back for what you pay. All adds up for Christmas, birthdays, other celebrations, holidays, days out etc etc etc.

Every little helps as Tesco say so themselves ;) :rotfl:

    Tesco points mad :D

Depending on what you are like with credit cards, consider getting Tesco's one. If you use it to buy all your shopping, and be sure to pay it ALL off at the end of the month, not only will you get more points that just using your ordinary clubcard, but you won't forget to hand it over.

Also if you buy shopping in Sainsburys you can pay with your Tesco credit card for clubcard points and hand over your Nectar card. Bonus! :j

It also means that wherever you spend money you can rack up extra clubcard points, although not at such a good rate as when shopping in Tesco. Better than nothing though, unless you perhaps have a really good cashback card.
