Is it acceptable to ask a potential employee their age?

You can ask candidates if they are over/under the age of 22 years, due to an exemption relating to pay under the National Minimum Wage Act.

So legally, a 21 year old has the same right to be considered for a job as a 22 year old, and the right to be discriminated on because of her age...YET....an employer can pay a 21 year old a lot less than a 22 year old, solely on the basis of there age.

So much for equality.

Equality applies to everybody except those who make these laws - they just exempt themselves! So much for setting an example. The Governemnt just acts in the manner that business wish they could.

Could someone tell me how do they generate NI numbers? Me and my ex's NI numbers were very similar, shared the first 2 letters and the first four numbers. We were born 18 months apart and 170 miles apart!
