Can someone advise me
- I have LARGO a persistent Solicitor acting on behalf of PHOENIX
trying to make me bankcrupt hearing end of month - They have billed me £3000 as a separate court fee, are they entitled to charge me so much as I attended 2x10minute hearings to request for a statutory demand to be set aside and they were present - this started APR 08
- They have since sent me a bill demanding payment of £2500!

hi i may not be correct here but i am speaking from experience.
if the company are the ones filing for your bankruptcy then you dont pay anything. all debts you incurr prior to bankruptcy are included in that bankruptcy ( exceptions are fines, other gov debts) you dont pay for the cost of bankruptcy.
i was made bankrupt by creditors and i didnt even go to court i paid nothin towards the bankruptcy petition.
so in effect the sums they say you owe will be included into your bankruptcy and therefore you dont pay them. i dont know your situation regarding assests ect such as house cars ect and your income as once BR you may be orderd to pay amounts monthly.
but if you are in a situation that means you are in a lot of debt and considering the bankruptcy route then i would say let the creditor do it, you only pay if you yourself are petitioning bankruptcy.
im 99% sure that is correct but i am sure someone else will be along soon to correct me if i am wrong, but it looks like the creditor is trying to pull a fast one and get some money out of you before the court date as once that has passed they cant persue you for a penny.
kind regards

Louiser I read it as the OP did not want to go bankrupt and wanted to pay the debt off so that they could avoid it

OP I would do as Padiman suggested and ring National Debtline. Will find their number for you.
