In a LOT of debt and I don't know what to do!!

Hi,
I'm new to this board and feel I need to finally stop burying my head in the sand. I am 28 and have racked up debts which amount to approx 50k, I will do a detailed list for you in the next few days but i'm doing it step by step.
I feel like a complete failure and feel sick with worry every single day, i'm having to withdraw money from card to pay the other and it's spiralling out of control now. I have been so so stupid and have only got myself to blame. It stemmed from a break up and me moving out and having to start all over again, I never got enough money from my ex that I was entitled to but it's too late now. I really want to look into speaking to payplan but my problem is that someone gave me a credit card a few of months ago and it is already maxed out so I could pay my bills and i'm worried what will happen if I go to do a debt plan with only having the 3k with them for a few months??
Can anyone give me advice on what to do?? Help
xx

Hey Tiddler
I am a newbie too and my attitude change in the last 48 hours of being on here has amazed me. It is amazing what knowing others are struggling too and supporting you can do to make you determined to get stuck in.
After months of hiding my mail in drawers and hoping the magic fairies would deal with them I have made so many steps in the last couple of days, OK still have the problems but now can see I need to deal with it before it gets any worse.
Do an SOA (someone more experienced will be along with a link no doubt) as seeing it in black and white at least allows you to start seeing where to start.
Re the failuer thing that was my biggie too, but hey the money is spent and beating myself up over it insnt going to change that.
Good luck

:j Hello Tiddler, welcome to DFW.
As those more experienced would say, get a cup of tea, try to work out what your outgoings are on an SOA, and post it up here. we'll all see if we can help.
As to being a failure with money, well that's why we're all here, you are in very good company!
This is the lowest point for most of us, when we finally realise that we can't cope and we are sinking fast, but it is only money at the end of the day, it's important, but not the be all & end all.
You can deal with this, and things will get better.
Try also to visit the National Debtline website, and also CCCS or Payplan.(the charity, I think there is a link from National Debtline and also from the sticky at the beginning of page 1). The more information you can get, the better you can deal with things.
Good luck.0 -

Your story is very similar to mine. The fact you have maxed a card so quick just shows the trouble you are having in living costs.
I would phone today CCCS or Payplan and see what they have to say.0 -
Hi Tiddler and welcome
Post your SOA using this clever link (there is a button on there too to formulate for MSE allowing you to post it more easily). https://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html
Little steps will help towards clearing your debt - speak to CCCS or National Debtline (someone else more experienced than I will come along with their details). Keep a spending diary so that you know what you are frittering away your money on.
If you have stuff that you no longer use or clothes you don't wear flog them on ebay or at a carboot.
When you bite the bullet and post your SOA - the good folks on here will be able to give you some advice on where to cut down, what to cut out etc.0
