waking up in a nightmare

Hi All,
Early this year, March i think, i woke up with a bad back, after 3 days of limping along - i woke up and couldn't move much...
My back has gone into some sort of spasm and is not letting go...
Anyhoo, the tablets i'm on have ment many hours asleep or feeling right out of it... To this end, i've not been paying attention to much...
I woke up last night, missus gave me a letter from my mortgage company - saying this:
Further to our default notice dated 15th july 2008, failure to pay the outstanding arrears of 379.28 now results in the termination of your loan agreement with us...
We therfore, demand repayment forthwith of the sum of 29,971.12 plus interest from the date of this notice until payment is recieveda at a rate of 4.99 per day...
Failure to make this payment within the next 14 days may result in us instructing our solicitors to recover the balance outstanding through the county court. In these circumstances you be liable four our legal costs...
This is from my mortgate company... its the "unsecured" part of my mortgage... which, needless to say is scaring the crud out of me...
I've not worked for 6months, which has taken its toll in practically every way... I've even struggled to get SSP - as i am a contractor - my umbrella company were saying they didn't have to pay - the DWP said they did - back n forth for a while... But now i am getting SSP...
So, with all the bills - you could imagine - have mounted up...
Is there anything i can do? i've got practically no money, missus, kids and no mobility... DWP are saying i need to be ill for 39 weeks before they can help... I've tried ringing the CAB - they must be perma-busy...
I worked very hard to get this house - been here for 4 years-ish - i've not had problems with my mortgage company before this year... I don't want to loose it...
So - feeling semi-with-it today - i really would like some help and try to get some sort of plan together...
If anyone can help, i'd appreciate it...
Cheers,
Mackers

Have you spoken to the mortgage company, and told them your predicament.
From what I've heard they don't like starting legal action, but would prefer to come to some arrangement if possible. Perhaps repayment only, lower payment terms for a few months and extend the length of the mortgage...
If you bury your head in the sand, so to speak, then they get stroppy; Talk to them, see if they're prepared to help you.
But don't ignore it, that's when the trouble starts.
Others may have better experience, but all the best and hope it comes good for you.A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -
yeah, i've been in contact with them by phone...
The last call said i need to pay some money in by the end of this month, which i was hoping to have 300 towards it...
I've sent 100 by internet transfer - but it wont be there for upto another 3 days...
I'll call them this morning - trying to get hold of the National Debt Line from 9am, then CAB from 10am... i hope i can get in touch with one of them today...
I've got to send some letters to gas, water etc companies too, i hope i can hold onto my house... Even if it's for another 6 months or how ever long it takes to get better... Is there something i should be asking from my doctor? or is it just wait for 39 weeks before the DWP gets involved..?
This is truely like waking up in a nightmare...
Cheers for the reply,
