Had the usual meeting with mortgage advisor for simple remortgage due to end of FR deal. was greeted by a twenty something lad with pink shirt, spikey hair and flashy watch. all paperwork etc fine. havent heard back from them now in two weeks, whereas woolich, nationwide etc. all try their best to keep you in the loop from day one.

I have to admit that I am finding them rather slow, but it's not a problem (yet) as I started the process off well in advance of my current deal ending.0

I've recently re-mortgaged to HSBC after my old fixed rate came to an end last week. It was all arranged over the phone and apart from one occasion where they asked me to re-fax some documents I'd already sent them, it all went smoothly and to time.
There was no charge for legals or valuation, and my interest is now calculated daily (it was monthly before). Excellent service all in all.

If you take some life cover or protection they keep in touch more as that's where the commission isMay 2009 Debt-Free Wannabe

HSBC's service levels have never been great - nothing to do with the age of the member of staff that served you which isn't relevant whatsoever.
Their service levels got significantly worse once Ratematcher was rolled out as there was such high demand and application volumes.0 -
Not sure why you feel his hair-style was relevant either.0

We recently remortgaged with HSBC and in my experience :
- HSBC over the phone are excellent.
- HSBC in branch come across as a bit less professional. So much so that I then phoned them to double-check that the documents I had dropped off had arrived safely.
They were OK with keeping in touch during the application process and it was actually swifter and easier than I thought it would be!

Yes!
I'm just remortgaging now and I would totally recommend the people on the phone - couldn't do more to help and I've had to resort to calling them to get a message to the mortgage advisors in branch!
The lady I had in branch was totally unprofessional and we ended up having an argument when she got very stroppy with me about not taking life/mortgage protection cover. I found the way she spoke to me to be totally unappropriate and I'm thinking of filing a complaint against her. I am really cross she will gain commission from our remortgage but if I change now to someone else in the branch or via telephone it's just going to cost me more time. I also felt she was being very cagey with my about anything I asked...she had a HUGE chip on her shoulder. And her email address is wrong on her business cards too!
I was told on the phone today there is a backlog because of the rate matcher. I am only remortgaging to them as there is no fee for entry or exit (0.99% above BOE tracker), and I'm planning to wait to see what rates do and hope to get a lower tracker sometime in the future. Soon if I can!
I might add the lady in branch wasn't the only poor mortgage advisor - I spoke to another bloke today who was no better and got very defensive and argumentative with me too! I would always deal with them again over the phone - and hopefully now I won't have to deal with her again as we're at valuation stage.0 -

dont know about others but the service was very quick for me. i applied on wednesday in the branch, all documents verified and copies taken by them. they had told me what documents to get when i booked the appointment. on appointment day after application process was told that computer had approved mortgage and needed signature from another section. looks like they did the processing the very next day and posted it on friday and i got the approval agreement today (saturday). i signed it and sent it back. also they have already appointed a surveyor who has sent me a letter which i received today as well. 3 days was all it took for all these events. dont know how long the surveyor will take though, will speak to them on. so am pretty happy with the speed of processing of my mortgage by HSBC. hoping the valuation/survey takes place as quickly as wellbubblesmoney :hello:0
