I wanna buy a digital camera

I would like a reasonably cheap digital camera for simple holiday snaps. I don't need anything too fancy (or expensive). I don't know much about digital cameras but a friend said I would need one with a zoom but is that a digital zoom or optical zoom? Also I would be taking about 100-150 photos so how much memory would I need, would I need to get an extra memory card? Please help!

I just bought our daughter the olympus c-170 in jessops for £79.99. I figured it was a good enough for what you and she were looking for. for my own digital camera I bought extra storage card on e bay, brand new for a fraction of the cost in the shops.
The card I have in my camera at the mo is 128mb, another I have is 64mb and internal memory. I have never ran out of space. I keep my pics to minimum quality to save on the batteries, which is ok as long as you only want them printing off at 6x4" if you wanna blow em up more you need to take pics at better quality. hope this helps
