Need advice

Hope im posting in the right forum for a start :p

Me and my partner are wanting to get married next year but i have alot of personal debt and business debt as i was self employed. I have a crap credit file while his is perfect. If we marry and i take his name will he be taking on my debt and crap credit file?
Im so worried about this and if it turns out that it effects him too then i wont be marrying him as i dont want to ruin his credit history.
All bill, mortgage, cars etc are in his name and im not planning on being on the mortgage or bills anyway.

Getting married does not make the two of you financially linked.
Having joint accounts / mortgage, etc, would link you financially, but this would be true if married or not.
  • So nothing will pass over to him if its all still in my maiden name? Im so paranoid about this.

You can change the name and it still won't cause a problem.
You should only be financially linked if you have a joint account.
