childcare problems again

Hi all, you may remember i posted my story here a while ago about wether i should cancel my childcare cheque, well sorted that out and now need help again...

the new nursery owners took over, they have started building work, got a phone call last night to say that nursery is shut today because of problems with the plumbing, and we wont be charged..... just got another call nursery will be shut all of this week now, but they are offering us a placement at another nursery (the nursery is there old companies other nursery) which is 15 minutes away on the bus, i dont want this placement so can they in effect charge me because they have offered me alternative nursery care ??
i dont think i should pay for this childcare when it is not at the normal childcare setting, i have no contract with the new owners or infact the old nursery owners !!

also we are on holiday next week and they want to charge me full price can they do this as we have no contracts the old owners never use to charge me..
thanks for all help

i am going to give notice in as i have been offered a placement at a childminders, so would i need to give 1 months notice etc .......
want to try and sort out what they could charge me for if i leave.
thank you

    Hello Again :D

I think you should talk to them, explain that as they have let you down at short notice, and their alternative arrangement is not convenient, you are going to sort out your own alternative.
In view of this you will not be transferring to their new company.

If you are polite and reasonable I'm pretty sure they will also be reasonable, and release you from this unwritten, unsigned contract without even a months notice. Good luck.

Paying when *you* are on holiday is standard BTW. But if there's a chance they will be closed still, then it would be unfair if they then charged!

thanks for your advice, i am sad that they will be leaving they been there 2 years, but when i asked for the new manager today i was told she has gone to see someone from ofsted as they are having problems with registration.

i am going to pop up this afternoon and take my notice and also ask for all my things that are there, bags, hats, nappies etc
i am sure that a decent plumber could sort the water out quicker they say it now wont be open till september 1st, maybe thats a cover story for the ofsted problem

You don't need to sign anything to be ina contract - however if there is no evidence of the contract (verbal) then it would be difficult for he new owners to pursue you.

the only thing i have from the new owners, is a letter saying who they are, what work they are doing, and that prices, staff and opening times is not changing... and any problems her door is always open....(if she is ever there that is)

gave my notice in, and collected all my childrens things just now.
manager still out, they have said they going to get her to ring me and have a chat, said to deputy or less she ringing to reduce the charges then there will not be much point...
