The idea of hampers is a good one, but if you're keen on sewing, how about making up a reusable shopping bag ... and packing that with presents? They don't have to be expensive, they can be "green" - as in "reduce, reuse, recycle", you can make your own presents for people - fleece blanket to keep them warm, knitted slippers [from charity shop jumper yarn] etc

I spotted some gorgeous porcelain cereal bowls with 'Santa's littla helpers' on and festive characters on in Morrisons today reduced to 38p each. I thought that they could be filled with Christmas cookies, hot chocolate sachets and marshmallows or similar for gifts. Come to think of it, I might go back and buy some more then do all our customary Christmas truffles in them.0
