Can using the CAB be a problem as well as a help?

I am awaiting the outcome of the CAB's negotiations with my 12+ creditors and fear that if I use Money experts' guides to reclaiming bank charges and PPI's I will antagonise the creditors who may not then agree to a repayment schedule. Has anyone found this to be the case please?

Does anyone know whether there is a formal arrangement (say a code of practice) between the CAB and banks/credit companies that we could fall back on if the creditors decided to get awkward following my claims? I can't afford to take the chance of them refusing or rescinding an arrangement in view of the large amounts involved. Thank you.

When you say CAB negotiating payments are you talking about a DMP?

I have found my personal experience of the CAB not to be good but they are based in a small town and I deal with things myself now much easier.

If it is a DMP there should be no waiting involved if you have worked out a payment to offer them then you pay it regardless of whether they accept or not. Are you sending any token payments while waiting for the CAB?

Sorry a lot of questions there. I would personally wait (if it is a DMP you are doing) until you have sorted that bit out then start claiming as they could be adding interest and you would have to go through the process again much better to do it all once its up and running.

I personally have found the CAB to be overstretched and under funded. The advisers have to be a jack of all trades yet unfortunately in my experience a master of none.

If you are embarking on a DMP you will know how much to offer creditors so just keep paying that amount no mater what.
