We can't give medical advice - not that I'd have any to give anyway! - but one obvious place to look is on netdoctor, although that's no substitute for your GP.
If it's any comfort, in my early 20s I had three cortisone injections my wrists and they were so painful I vowed I wouldn't have any more if the last one didn't work, but mercifully it did, because I'm not sure I could really have coped with the pain in my wrists for much longer. And my DH had to have an injection in his shoulder which at the time he found more painful than the original problem, but it did fix that problem which had had him writhing in agony and unable to sleep.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I had these injections in my foot last year. They sound scary and weren't entirely painless themselves, but were well worth it.0

I,m hoping it may go away as i really do not get on with needles .But i suppose it may have to be a decision based on the short term pain of the injection against endless arm pain and dropping stuff etc etc..Oh bug*** not immortal after all.!!0

I had tennis elbow for a long time. It took nearly 18 months to eventually go. Even now I still get some pain from it. I didn't have any injections but at the time I wasn't in paid employment so I put up with the pain. I would recommend the injections even though they are suppose to hurt like hell.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

I've used a Pro Sport tennis elbow support in the past. It binds around the forearm, so that when you use your arm the muscle shortening is eased, with less pull at the point of attachment on the elbow. My then GP thought I used to wear it too tight, but after two years, the tennis elbow had righted itself. Plus, during wear it was possible to use my arm relatively normally.
I've had tennis elbow on both arms (plus golfer's on one). One eventually resulted in an operation. Total cortisone injections = 6. Physiotherapy and accupuncture tried with little or no success.
I recommend the Pro Sport. It's better than other neoprene models as it doesn't have any stretch in it. I got mine from Sainsbury's. They cost less than £10. It worked for me in the end. Patience is key though. Hope you find some relief soon.
This is the type I mean:

They seem to have changed the models since I got one. Not sure what it's made of now.0 -
I had a couple of cortisone injections in my shoulder and they did not hurt at all - in fact, they were a complete relief, as they were half filled with anaesthetic which after a few hours numbed the area. And they stopped the pain I was experiencing for almost 6 weeks!
I ended up having surgery to stop the pain in my shoulder, as the injections did not have the intended effect.Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!
