The affect of a CCJ on existing accounts

Hello everybody. I come in need of advice!
Some background: I returned to education in 2005 and, having applied at the last minute, was given a room in a housed owned by the University. It was a dump, and pretty unpleasant, but it would suffice. Without going into too much detail, life as a mature student, away from my girlfriend and in a house where I often felt deeply unhappy, led me to leave after a few months. The University certainly knew I was struggling, as I was using their counselling service every week but enough was enough and one morning in - I think - March my girlfriend came to collect me, we packed up and I dropped the keys through the accomodation office door.
Three years later, having moved into our current place in 2006, and I've had court papers served on me for £2600 in rent and I'm now the not-so-proud owner of CCJ. I haven't the heart, nor the money, to take on the University, even though I know I can point to the fact I was receiving counselling at the time. I was housed with four foreign students, all of whom would sleep all day and rise in the late evening. Their particular religious practice meant that, for a time, they would eat around midnight, with the kitchen - next to my bedroom on the ground floor - serving as a social point for most other overseas students on the street. One of them was apparently selling dope, so the back door (next to my bedroom window) would be hammered upon by various callers at all hours. You see where I'm going with this? I really didn't want to complain, lest I went into the accomodation office with a tee-shirt emblazoned with "I'm not a racist but..." on it. I crumbled, turned into an insomniac, missed lectures and ended up not leaving my room for days on end and all because I didn't want to be perceived as having unpleasant motives behind my complaint.
Anyway, back to the CCJ. I've an account with RBS, as well as a loan with them, a Barclaycard and a small loan with Dixons. All of which are up-to-date, but now I've got a CCJ, can these other lenders foreclose on my accounts? Is it likely that RBS will have knowledge of my debt and order me to return my cheque book? Will Barclaycard want all my balance back in one go? I know I'm not going to get credit for a long time, not that I'm particularly upset by that, but I'd struggle to pay everything back and I don't much want to lose my Maestro card etc.

Thrifty's dead right.
Your new CCJ has no bearing whatsoever on existing agreements.
However, It will go against you for any future agreements particularly with new lenders.
If you keep your existing accounts in order then you may be able to return to these same lenders in the future?0 -

Hi,
when you move into university campus accomodation you are asked to sign a rental aggreement, which states in the small print, that if you vacate the premeses at anytime within the accademic year you are liable for full payment.
As you would have signed this in order for them to rent you the room in the first place, then unfortunately you are now liable for payment of any remaining weeks outstanding.
also with regards to the counselling you received this would not be a suitable defence to avoid payment as even if you had registered the complaint, if alternative rooms were available they would only have offered to move you.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the terms and conditions are there to protect the universities in receiving there yearly rental income.
