Dyslexia might AFFECT (not effect) spelling, but does it affect punctuation and language as well ?

It does for me and can do for many others.

    Sorry for the sidetrack.

Cranston, don't apologise for the sidetrack; it should be me apologising for any potential offence to dyslexia sufferers.

YB, I agree with you. I actually have a few accounts that I don't use, like a JJB card, which is shown as 0 every month instead of D. I know it is down to each lender how they choose to record the account performance, but I wanted to make the point that it could be flagged as dormant, after the OP tried to suggest that not using an account would only benefit an individual, when a dorman account would not really benefit many people. Plus the attitude annoyed me.

The sceptic in me suspects a troll.

Meaning 0 Payments are up to date 1 Payments are up to 1 month late 2 Payments are up to 2 months late 3 Payments are up to 3 months late 4 Payments are up to 4 months late 5 Payments are up to 5 months late 6 Payment 6 months or more late 8 The account is in default. You failed to keep to your credit agreement and have not responded satisfactorily to requests to put your account in order, so the credit agreement has ended. D The account is not being used - nothing is owed. U The lender has been unable to give the account a statement for this month. This may be at the start of the credit agreement when the lender is allowing time for the account to be set up; when the customer is waiting for goods to be delivered; when the customer has received the goods but payment is not due to start immediately; when there is a dispute over the payments due or the goods received; or when the account is not being used.

    Jonny..

quick question seeing as you work for Experian..
If you clear a credit contract, say a mobile phone contract, that you'd defaulted on a fair bit too much (never used the phone and accidentally cancelled the DD without realising). When the contract is ended is it possible to ask that the history for it is removed from your credit report? or am i being hopelessly optimisitc?

    hopelessley optimistic I'm afraid.
we hold the data for 6 years, as do all credit ref agencies - it should be 6 years from the date of default.
removing the default data would be down to the company you contracted with, but if it is accurate data, I don't see why they would.

a satisfied default looks a bit better than an outstanding default, but not by much.

you would be better using the option to add a NOTICE OF CORRECTION to that account, explaining the circumstances. Experian's website at https://www.experian.co.uk will be able to help you.
