I have 4 ccj,s against my name,what can I do?

I have just got my online report from experian.I have 4 ccj,s against my name, registered from 04 -07,they range from £202 -2802.What can I do to start to repay these debts off,do I have to pay them all in one go or will the courts take smaller payments until they paid.Would it be better for me to contact a charity debt advice line.I am constantly receiving letters from RED,in July I received a letter from Bryan Carter solicitors for £11,217.16 saying they had a warrant for me.It is a debt I owe from the past and is registered as a default against my name, but as yet has,nt come up as a ccj.I don,t want to hide anymore, don,t want to not open the mail from my married name, don,t want to syphon th post to what suits me to open.Is it better for me to just admit all to a debt counselling service.I am pretty scared at how long I have allowed these debts to dominate my life but not tackle them,I should add I don,t overspend anymore,I am very careful with money now,pay all my bills on time, mortgage ,etc but feel a fraud as I hav,nt confronted the debt from my past due to fear.Thank you for any help.

Hi I would make an appointment with a debt counsellor such as Payplan, CCCS or CAB all of whom will help you for FREE. If anyone asks for a fee to help you then walk away as there are companies out there who make a living off other peoples misery.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
  • Hi,

I am certainly no expert on this but definatley speak so someone such as cccs, make sure you have details of all your incoming and outgoing amounts when you ring them.

We used them about 4 years ago. Can I ask how did you get your credit report online, did it cost alot ?

Definitely agree with the above advice.

I think with CCJs the court has already decided how you pay them back.

You need to contact all of the courts that the CCJs were issued by. Then get all the details and set about contacting the Debt Collectors.

Try and get all the paperwork you can from the court before you get contact the DCA as they will sometimes (as in my case!) add money to a CCJ which they cannot legally do, as the CCJ has been issued by the court and that is the amount you must pay.

Please do contact one of the charties as well as they will be able to help you further.

    Hello,

It’s really important that you deal with the CCJ as soon as possible. If you default on a CCJ then the court is able to send bailiffs.

If the monthly payments are higher than you can afford, you are able to ‘vary’ the judgment. To do this fist of all you would need to know how much to offer based on your income and expenditure, and then complete a form called a N245. There is a cost for an N245 how much depends on your circumstances and you would need to complete one for each CCJ that you have.

If you would like an appointment to help you put a budget together and discuss your options in detail, please call 0800 138 1111.
I am a Debt Counsellor that works for the CCCS and have specific permission from Martin, to post on these boards to try and help those in debt. Read more information on the CCCS and what it does in the Debt Problems: What to do and where to get help article.

CCCS is a registered charity, and there is no charge whatsoever for any of the services we provide to our clients. We take great pride in offering first class help and advice, but we only offer this where we have been able to fully explore and understand your circumstances with you. We want to help you understand these choices and their possible implications but not make them for you.

Well have contacted cccs, hopefully will be going on a dmp, have asked for the N245 forms from the courts to tackle the ccj,s.Been advised to keep my doors and windows locked until I sort the court ccj,s.That really hit home and now I am terrified I have left it too late to tackle these problems.Have had to tell kids not to open the doors, admitted I am in debt,:o.I am now so eager to start paying off my debts I just hope nothing happens in the interim period.I feel so disappointed in myself.
