Savings account accepted for undischarged bankrupt

I know there's a lot of threads about bank accounts at the moment, so apologies for another one... but just posting this in case anyone is after a proper savings account whilst still undischarged... I went into Chelsea building society today and spoke to a lovely lady there about my bankruptcy who put my application through without any problems, (i'm only 5 months into my bankruptcy). So I can now save money (albeit small amounts) and actually earn a little bit of interest
This will not help anyone having trouble with current accounts as it is a limited access one (i chose it) .. they did have other ones though.

Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.

and whats the betting someone else goes in & gets turned down :rolleyes:We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

And whats the betting they get the account?
Seeing as they don't credit check, it's not so unlikely and it might be useful to someone.:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -
Hi
NS&I (post office) do a savings account, they dont do a credit check but you do need a bank account so they can do an identity check.

well pardon me....i'm just saying most banks never seem consistant when handing out savings accounts especially to undischarged BR's...sainsburys internet saver didnt credit check yet initially I was turned down but after much hassle I finally was accepted..I can name a few accounts that dont credit check some accepted some not so its not all cut & dry
oh & by the way....I tried the chelsea before sainsburys AFTER my discharge & they declined me so go figure!
NO NEED to get on the offensive waspy :mad:We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
Sorry for sounding offensive but there were a lot of threads posted asking about accounts and I just posted that i'd had success with Chelsea today, your response came across a bit negative when I was just trying to help.
Apologies again...:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -
Ouch! We all know how random and inconsistent that banks can be on this.
Blame them for being the inconsistent hypocrites that they are, not each other.;)Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

serves me right for trying to help & share an oppinion (which is the point of this place or so I thought)
next time i'll not bother just in case I get accused of being negative again...we wouldnt want to upset anybody else would we?

Just looked up Chelsea BS on internet as I would be interested in a savings account. I realise there might be problems but this did catch my eye:
Poor credit mortgages
Getting you started again after financial difficulties
Our Prospect mortgage range has been specially designed for those with previous financial difficulties, even if your credit record includes County Court Judgements (CCJs) or mortgage arrears.
In fact, we will now consider all levels of CCJs across the Prospect mortgage range.
So regardless of the reason for your financial difficulties - divorce, bankruptcy, redundancy or ill health - you could soon secure the mortgage your current credit status deserves
Thanks Waspeze - I think we (this board) needs to keep an eye open for Chelsea experiences, good and bad. If I can find a local branch, I will pop in and report back.Bankrupt 11th June 2008
Automatic Discharge 11th June 20090
