I'm not sufficiently pc literate to 'cut and paste' but I have received the following non spam email that I tught might be of interest to others on this forum:

'just last weekend, on Friday night, we parked in a public parking area. As we drove away I noticed a 'sticker' on the rear window of the car. My friend told me not to stop as there could be someone waiting for me to get out of the car, so I drove home. When I removed the 'sticker' it turned out to be nothing more sinister than a 'petrol receipt'
Then, yesterday, we received the following email:

'WARNING FROM POLICE - BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE - NEW WAY TO DO CAR JACKINGS (NOT A JOKE)

You walk accross the car park, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and 'shift' into reverse.
When you look into the rearview mirror, to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window.
So you shift into neutral, unlock your doors, and jump out of your car to remove that piece of paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.
When you reach the back of your car, that is when the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off.
They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.
And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.
So now the carjackers have your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!

Now, I accept that this was only a 'round robin' email, but one of my friends called me, from Italy, the other day, to tell me that he was at a traffic light in Milan, when another car hit the back of his. His first reaction was to get out of the car and walk to the back. As he got to the back of his car - hey presto, the lights changed and his car, wallet, mobile and credit cards disappeared off into the Italian Night.

So there may be a lesson in there.

Could well have been, tes - but there's no smoke without fire.

And I hasten to add, the 'blue' bit was also part of the email.

Well, the carjacking method you describe does sound feasible rog and scary. However, I just wondered if the police sent out messages like that and who they choose to send them to. Interesting.

I presume that it was a warning from the police that someone may have seen or heard of, and then decided to spread via email on their own initiative?

    I suppose it is possible.

I don't doubt, for one minute, that it is, indeed, spam - although, as tes said, the 'methodology' is feasible, and there is, or can be, no attempt to mislead anyone - unless of course the email is followed up by a gun sales email.

It may well be spam but I have to admit, being female, I will be more cautious of this sort of thing. Before I never really thought about it.
