I went there once and the place was filthy. I was really surprised when I read glowing reports further up this thread - although they were from a few years ago.
  • Guys,

    Here's my tuppance worth,

I think you can always judge the quality of a fry up by how the sausage tastes and if the beans are heinz.

Having read the reviews on this page. I gotta say Maggie Mays may be cheap and cheeful but the sausage tastes like it was purchased as a bulk buy of 500 frozen in Lidel.

And as for the inshops, not open on a Sunday morning when you really need a fry up after a Saturday night on the lash.

Truth is Belfast is lacking a good fry up , there is Graffiti on the Ormeau Road, not a bad fry , sausage tastes good, but no beans or black pudding included. Shame on you !!

So what Belfast needs is a place where the fry up is king , great sausages, black pudding, heinz beans, mushrooms, tomato, soda bread, potato bread, bacon, HP sauce, Red or Brown depending on preference, chips optional.

What Belfast needs is a place like the market diner in Brighton(England) (site won't let me push a link, but check out Http:// www. marketdinerbrighton .co.uk - just put it all together)
What a place, the legendary GUT BUSTER , Belfast is screaming out for a place like this considering it's Ulster fry reputation.

Ivest in the Ulster fry, add a few extras and hey presto instant pot of gold at the end of a Be;fast rainbow.

    The Stones.

A couple of years ago I was unfortunate enough to order their 'vegetarian' breakfast, and what they dished up (after quite a long wait) was totally revolting - two eggs, a big dollop of baked beans, greasy fried bread, tinned mushrooms and tomatoes...all piled up on a tiny plate.

I had to ask for a second plate to unload some of the stuff before I could even begin to tackle it. A case of quantity rather than quality.:(

Maxwell Bros on the Woodstock Road is very nice. Totally non greasy fry and very very tatsy

Maxwell Brothers now appear to have closed down which is a shame.
  • I would definitly day its cafe Renoir at botanic.
The big breakfast is a full fry with tea, coffee or orange juice. We go every Sunday.

Another good place is the Harlem cafe near the ulster hall. Tiny bit pricier but nice inside
  • Beans have no place on a fry
