Making my own table decorations - Help, please!

Hello All,
I have my wedding booked for 15th August 2009 and am trying to organise things while I have some time off work. I am not a flowery person and so am hoping to have candles as my table decorations. I have found some super storm vases in Ikea (£7.49) and now need champagne/gold sand/gravel to sit the candels in and some cheap, reliable church candles to go in them ... i am then getting the florist to surround them in Ivy ...
So ... does anybody have any ideas of places to get cheap gold sand/gravel and or reliable cheap church candles ?
many thanks in advance ... very excited bride to be! x x

Try looking on ebay?
I found this gold sand on there:

Look here for candles:

Hi
When we got married I was like you didn't want loads of flowers on the tables. I bought cheap terracotta pots which I spray painted gold. I then wedged florists foam in these into which I stuck the candle. We like you then got the florist to put ivy around the candles and they looked great. We asked certain people if they wanted to take them home and they still bring them out at Christmas time as the ivy can easily be replaced.
The place we had our reception had a huge fireplace in and we also got two very basic cast iron type candle holders which we put huge church candles on and wrapped ivy around these.
Hope this helps, ours was a September wedding and the candles in gold pots didn't look too christmassy.
