Hi All,
I was just wondering does anyone know if a veg steamer gets hot enough to sterlize babies bottles. I already have a veg steamer so it would save me buying extra equipment if it can, or am i just sounding like i've lost the plot
thanks

We used the steamer for our ds's things.
Found it was great for all the teethers, dummies, mini avent bottles and juice cups. Couldn't manage to fit in normal sized bottles so they got submerged in boiled water in a large pot for 5 mins or cold water with milton.
We were given the steamer when we moved house but didnt really start to use it until then plus it had 3 tiers so could fit in all the teats, rings, caps, dummies for the day instead of doing it twice or 3 times a day.0 -
excellent. i love it when i'm right haha. one less thing to buy and clutter up the house and it will still be usefull after the baby has weaned.
Steamed veg tastes much better yum

Just a thing to note, we have a basket just for meat which is out of bounds for the babies things, only because we find bits of meat and solidified fat gets stuck in the grooves and holes and it needs a good soaking/scrubbing for it to come out. That probably the only downside.
The plus side is they are so easy to descale as most models have the element exposed.0 -
yes great idea, . saves buying a seperate bottle steamer.
i never think i have just bought a new sterlizer for unexpected baba number 3( gave everything away) never even entered my head to use my food steamer. but will keep it in mind when i am at my mums or anywhere else .Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!0 -
i'm just being tight!!! OH had it on the list of things to buy, but i don't want to have to buy to much.I have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammar

If you have a dishwasher you can use that instead of a steriliser its what they use in the hospitals. Failing that i cant see why a steam wouldnt work,0

If you have an old fashioned pressure cooker you can also use that without the weight. It comes with a trivet you can stand the bottles on upside down then there is a basket you can put all the bits and pieces in on top. I could do three bottles at a time with thisIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
