Eight years ago I made a real mess of my finances. Just like so many I didn't know where to turn. I stuck my head in the sand and guess what? it didn't all go away.

Since joining MSE I have fought and won my bank charges, loan charges and even credit card charges back and after two years I am now debt free.

Withou the support of everyone I wouldn't have been able to do this so thank you all for your support!!!

From someone who hid in the cupboard under the stairs when the door bell rang I have grown in confidence and now its time to fight.

Since paying all outstanding balances (in full) I have found a catalogue of errors with nearly every company I have dealt with. some examlpes include 16 entries on my credit file for 1 account that had been paid in full with 13 different defaults!!!! one company sold my loan onto a DCA some 23 days after it was paid in full and they have added a default they are refusing to remove it.

Well this was bad now its gone to worse.

This morning I recieved a letter in the post from Mackenzie Hall this is a DCA previously described as a rancid tumour.

This is for a debt that was fully paid two years ago. So in current fashion and wanting to be financially responsible I dug out from my files a letter from the originating creditor showing the balance as fully paid and made contact with Mackenzie Hall.

Well I have never been subject to such a barage of abbuse and I play sunday league football.

The woman on the phone informed me that not only was I a liar that the debt had been cleared. Shed claimed they had paid it for me!!!! so trying to keep calm I explained that I had proof and could fax or post this to them of the debt being fully repaid. The lady again informed me I was a liar and demanded I paid the amount in full. I started to read verbatum from my letter including its date and the lady informed me that I was a foul rude man and hung up but not before stating the collectors will be visiting you.

I cannot explain how angry I am in writing this post and since I have contacted consumer direct. I am in the process of dealing with this and in the process I will be looking to remove the rancid tumour.

Now heres the best bit; Consumer Direct put me onto trading standards and stated they had been various other comlpaints. They stated they will look into it as well and the kind lady informed me that there would be consideration to the removal of their licence. Well Money Savers, to all of you who have been infected by the tumor that is Mackenzie Hall I honestly believe enough is enough.

Some DCA's seem to think that harrasing and pressuring people for any sheckle and dime they can is acceptable and do so in many illegal and immoral ways, well for me the time has come to fight!!!

To any MSE member who has had any dealing with Mackenzie Hall pls let me know how they have treated you and anyone with similar problems pls report it to consumer direct on 08454 04 05 06.

I will keep yuo all posted on my progress.

That's shocking behaviour, how can they justify talking to anybody like that? It's bullying at it's worst. I shall be reading your thread to see how you get on. Good luck!!

Congrats on becoming debt free and being able to deal with the situation so calmly.

I would write the letters showing that the debts had been paid in full, but also informing them that all calls to you may be recorded, that you require them to remove all your details from their systems and that further contact will be considered harrassment and damages will be sought.

Hopefully you will be able to get something back from the leeches before they're squished.

I cant believe MH... that is just awful. Glad you are in contact with consumer direct and hopefully something will be done about people like that.
