TBH, I think that most people stick with the basic accounts that they have after discharge as your credit file is naff anyway.
After discharge, take a look at the cleaning up your credit file after BR sticky at the top of the board. Once your credit file looks better then its better to look at bank accounts then.0 -
You are only really going to be able to get a basic account for a long while anyway.
After your discharge you may (or may not) be able to get a basic account with one of the banks that won't give one to you while you are undischarged. May be worth a try.
Current list is here: Table of available basic accounts (FSA/moneymadeclear) in HTML / or in pdf/Adobe Reader format.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks,
To be honest I'm not that bothered I would just like the convenience of having a branch I could go in to as there isn't a Co-op anywhere near us. We would also like a savings acc or individual accounts instead of just the joint one. Nice to have a bit of independence. If we can't then its not a disaster, just be nice.
We have a couple more weeks until discharge so I'll start clearing up our files then - is it sad that I am excited about that?!0 -
I cant remember when i last needed to actually go into the bank as co-op make it easy not to have to go in. I will stick with Co-op as they gave me another chance with the new me. It might be nice to get an upgrade in the future but i am really not bothered i just think they are great.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

I had no trouble getting a savings account with Barclays-also home insurance with no hassles for being a BR
They also told me to come in after i'd had the account for one year and they'd look at upgrading it to a normal one (off to have a go in the next few days, as its been a year):jThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter

With the Co-Op account, you can use the post office. (I'm aint got anything to do with the Co-Op, but it looks like the better account after bankruptcy, cos the only other one is Barclays which doesn't give you a debit card.)0
