Next problem!
A couple of years ago I had a meal in a really posh restaurant. They served a pre-starter of pumpkin soup in an egg shell. The top of the egg had been perfectly smoothly removed. I asked the waitress how this had been one and she said they had a french tool called a toque-off (don't know how to spell it).

I have searched in vain on the internet. Can any of you resourceful folks help again?

It's not called a touque-off, but is the Clack egg-cutter the kind of thing that you're looking for?

It seems a bit pricey at £15.30, but I suppose it depends on how much use you would get out of it.

In English it would be called an egg topper. Could the waitress have been using a mixture of English and French to describe the tool i.e. "topper d'oeufs" :rotfl: ?
