    Well said Ernie.

Concard - I don't think you would have a mis-selling case. People's plans vary, so it's not necessarily a mis-sell. If you tried a complaint I think you would be asked why you signed up to it, if the dates didn't match your requirements as you are meant to read the documentation. I know we are not all geniuses and I don't mean to offend but this is pretty basic, so I would see a case coming back at you, to ask why you ever agreed to it.

As you have 3 years to retire you are best off looking at options now.
You could overpay to reduce the burden or use your tax free lump sum at retriement to reduce or overpay the mortgage.
A small mortgage in retirement should be manageable.
You could also use any savings you have to reduce it.

    Hi concard ,
Your post is a little confusing but if you have 3 years left till you retire I would overpay as much as you can afford and try to clear that mortgage
    before you retire !
It may well mean paying twice as much as you are currently paying in mortgage payments but you have had the mortgage for the last 15 years
so hopefully its not too large in relation to your earnings ?
Clearing the mortgage before you retire when you are earning will give you
all your pension and lump sum to live on GOOD LUCK
