And this week's award for the most pedantic poster goes to...

Come now, it's a long way from being pedantic to pull someone up for making a hugely sweeping and untrue statement such as yours. I would imagine that only a tiny fraction of home owners have performed a mortgage equity release and of those I'm sure many of them would have released money to fund further development (I'm one of them - I had an extension built).
From reading the DFW board, the same people seem to have MEWed more than once, skewing the figures even more.
While it might give the renting fraternity a warm glow to think that all home owners are indebted up to their eyeballs, I'm afraid it just patently isn't true. More surprising is the high level of homes that have no mortgage - this figure gave me a shock when it was posted onto the Housing forum.
There was also a survey from the RBS that showed that more people were paying off their mortgages before full term, than at any other time.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

Hardly pendantic.
BTW, your first post just won the award for this weeks most sanctimonious:pIn case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
It is only Monday.
I'm sure I'll have won both your awards come Sunday.

Touche, Jon. Touche.
I aim to please. In fact next year I'm getting "I told you so" tattooed on my face.
I said that Chamberlain appeasing Hitler was a mistake, I mean after all he invaded the remainder of Czechoslovakia then Poland, France, Netherlands, etc. I was thinking of getting "I told you so, Chamberlain" tattooed on my face.
I said yesterday that it'll go dark before the dawn. I might get "I told you so, God" tatooed on my face.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)
