    Still no light here!

I went to Homebase who no longer stock that type or the tube, then to B+Q and bought a tube. Unfortunately, I can't get the panel back that covers the wiring and backs the tube.

Looks like I'll need an electrician or at least someone more handy than I am after all.

Final stage in the saga is that the light had burned itself out (or whatever lights do) and had to be replaced after all.

It cost me £70 for an electrician to come, go, come back and fit one, which I think is just about okay, though rather more than a new tube (which I must return to Homebase!)

I can't believe it. Having replaced the complete thing back in September, the light has gone again. I think it is just the tube this time as it is flickering, so I'll see if I can dismantle and replace.

I don't suppose I can blame the electrician as this looks like just bad luck.

Well I've just been to B&Q and got a new tube (same spec) and fitted it but it has the same problem as the last, i.e. the ends light up but not the middle.

The light (as you will see above) was new in September.

What do I do now? Do I need an electrician?

    Thanks

No, I haven't and have only just discovered what one is. I'll see if I can get one tomorrow and check that.

    Thanks

It was the starter and works perfectly now. I must take back the tube I bought but don't need.
