Will my Husbands default affect my credit rating?

Hi, this is my first post.

My Husband has a default registered against him for a credit card debt £ 4000 and shows on his credit report

My own credit report is much better than my Husbands. I have no defaults, only the occasional late payment, but will my husbands default affect any credit applications I make in the future?

We have had joint applications in the past so we are linked on our credit reports

If I apply for anything on my own will all lenders automatically look at my husbands file?

Any help would be most appreciated

Thanks

  • If it is a joint application then yes both files will be searched, if it is an application purely in your name then you can chose to “opt out” of the joint scoring .
 It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them
