Mortgage Charges

Hi,

We had a mortgage with a company called GE Money. When we sold our house we were waiting on a final end figure from them showing what we owed. Our solicitor kept pushing them but they didnt reply for a week and when they did they charged us an extra months interest as we had gone over the month cut off date. I wondered if anyone knew if there was any way to claim this back from them as it seemed like the deliberately waited to do this.

From personal experience, I received a redemption figure for my mortgage within 2 days (Mansfield BS). It sounds to me like they've been slow. I suggest a strongly worded letter with specific dates and times (and support from your solicitor) may acheive some recompence.
