Do you have a basic account?
If so, have you applied to 'upgrade' the account - I am surprised that you are being refused, two years after discharge, perhaps you just need to keep trying the other banks/building societies?

Or to quote Father Ted Crilly - it can 'rest in my account' for a while, too, shell. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Shell have you cleaned up your credit files since you have been discharged. The problem might be there. Here is a link to Fermi's sticky on how to do it.

    hi shell,

not sure if this is any help but royal bank of scotland will accept you no problem with no credit check either for a savings account.

we opened ours on our bankruptcy date and had to tell them why we needed it, and they accept undischarged BR for thier savings accounts. after all there is no credit product its just an account.

instant access savings account is good you can do dd also and get a cheque book also ( you need to just ask for the chequebook) we opened that one a year into BR were not discharged either and they did no credit check as they said they dont do them unless its for a credit product.

took us 7 years though until BR was off file before they would accept for a current account and even then it was just basic one
try them its worth a go and as i say with the cheque book you can pay instead of drawing it from the machine (you get cash card too and can get money anytime no waiting periods)

    hope that helps
