Ok so those who have children what do you put in yours???
I have 3 to make, one for my daughter 14 months, one for my son 5 yrs and one for the biggest kid of them all OH who is 33.
Last year I shoved all kinds of bits and bobs in them. OH had a jokey one and I will probably do similar for him this year. Just wondering what you stick in your stockings ...
Normally I add an orange and a back of the chocky coins, this is something we always used to love in our stockings

I thought it was compulsory to put those in? :rotfl: I did this for my cousins a couple of years ago. Included general tat - yoyos, pencil sets, football stuff, dress up jewellery for the girls, pirate patch and bandana for the boys, set of dominos, a book, sweets, toothbrush(to make me feel better about the sweets!), skipping rope (again to make me feel better about the sweets!) and those mini board games you can get for travelling. I also put a small lump of coal at the bottom as a reminder that there was still room for improvement! Maybe I'm just mean for doing that?
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you.:p

I do stockings the same as my mum did for us when we were little - lots of little party-bag type toys and a bag of coins. In past years there have been whoopee cushions, keyrings, toy cars, christmas tree growing kits, badges (the charity boxes on bank counters are a good source of these), small colouring books or notepads and packs of pencil crayons, expanding flannels and shaped soaps etc, christmas themed beakers and fancy straws, ball bearing puzzles, torches and all sorts of things.
I do tend to find one 'better' thing to go in the top - last year, eldest son had a small Transformer, middle one a set of Matchbox emergency vehicles and youngest got a little Thomas toy. There's usually a small cuddly toy too. I spend around £15-£20 on each.
The idea is that the stockings will keep them occupied for a while before they come and hound us out of bed - not that they seem to work very well :rolleyes:DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -

A lump of coal! Fantastic! I am going to struggle I think this year as in January I got 2 winnie the pooh Disney sacks from the disney store for £5 (£2.50 each!) so this year they are bigger, thanks for some more ideas ...Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
I used to do small stockings to hang on their bedroom doors then when they woke in the morning they had 'stuff to do' like puzzles, mini-books, chocs etc.
Not allowed downstairs till we got up, otherwise wrapping was rippped off and we didn't know who had bought what for them...........lolMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Similar rule in my old house with my son. He was not allowed downstairs til I woke up but his stocking was always placed outside his door and he used to wake me up shouting that santa had been but would open his stocking in my bed first. Now I have moved in with OH and he doesn't like the idea of them having stockings upstairsI used to do small stockings to hang on their bedroom doors then when they woke in the morning they had 'stuff to do' like puzzles, mini-books, chocs etc.

last year we had to leave them downstairs although this year I am working on him as I would prefer the children to have stockings upstairs and then open them before coming down and opening all other gifts down there. Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

If they're too big to fill up, I'd turn them inside out and stitch around the 3 sides by a couple of inches (or as much as you think you could get away with;) ) and it makes it a lot easier to fill

Tesco have packs of pencils with shaped rubbers on the end at 12 for £1. Ladybirds, monkeys, frogs, dolphins, footballs, butterflys etc. Individually wrapped they make nice stocking fillers.
If you're feelinfg particularly generous a £5 coin in a presentation pack is nice too. Admittedly mine have teeny tiny stockings and its more of a challenge to find small items to put in them.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
