hi all,
does anyone know what is minimum amount that a company will take you to court for?
i had a mobile contract with bt, i had it for the duration of the contract and at the end i went with t mobile. i cancelled the contract and recieved a final bill ( said on it final bill) i paid it,
since then they have tried to bill me 65 pounds for usage which is not mine! i have told them by letter and email i will not pay this as i have paid my final bill and the contract was cancelled but recieved debt agency letter yest,
i could just pay it but i dont see why i should when i dont owe it. i have asked them to send me paperwork where it states this is mine they have just ignored this, but wondered if there was a minimum amount before they could actually take it to court. i wouldnt want that so would just pay it and grit and grit my teeth but as for default how can they do this when the bills were paid and the contract ended and clarified by them as so in final bill.
cheers

Louise,
I cant help you with the amount that they'd take you to court for, but do sympathise with you with the hassle it's causing you.
I had a mobile contract with O2 - I cancelled it to go a PAYG - yet it took me nearly 8 months to get them to finally realise that I no longer had a contract with them.
Like you I recieved a final bill, paid it, thought that was the end till I recieved a bill a month later - called them up 'oh sorry, it's the computer doing it', yet this happened for months on - it was only when I threatened to report them to OFCOM that they finally sorted it out - and I actually ended up having a refund for them as I'd paid the final bill when I shouldnt had done!
Personally PAYG suits me better - I barely get through £10 a month (sometimes only £5!) - and comparing that to £25 a month I had been paying for X months ... !!!Bankrupt : 9 May 2008
Automatic Discharge : 9 May 20090 -
If its just for a CCJ, then there is no minimum amount they will take you to court for.
Re-write again, slightly more demanding (but polite) and ensure it is sent by a trackable means (Recorded or Special Delivery) so that you know that they have the correspondence.0 -
I had a CCJ for £65Debts incurred through illness and homelessness, starting a degree in September, going bankrupt in November and having a well deserved fresh start in January 2009! Bring on the new year! Interested in thrifty living, and if its green all the better for it! xxx0
