Thinkin gof Bankruptcy after long talk with cccs

Quick reply about the landlord situation.
I went BR in early May this year - did ask the OR during my telephone interview if they'd be letting my LL know (we rent via an agency, but they had his home address) as I was concerned they may have an 'old fashioned attitude to bankruptcy' (which she totally understood). She said as long as the tenancy agreement I sent them was the approved type, then there would be no need to inform them.
Our agreement was due to end in August ... yet we were offered another 6 months so can but assume they were not informed (as I would had thought I'd had had some sort of letter from the agency if they had been).
We havent volunteered this information to them, as we've currently got no way of getting the £1500 we'd need to move for another place just like that - I dare say we'll end up renting somewhere else in the future and would be at that point we'd inform them if it was with the same company.
Thanks for that info my contract finishes in Jan 09 i dont intend to move in the near future but it all depends on weather the landlord wishes to re-rent the flat out, my tenancy agreement is a typical agreement from a reputable letting agent, i am going to phone around tomorrow other agancies and ask weather they accept bankrupt tennants.0 -
I really think most people on here didn't have their landlord find out about BR. Some ORs ask you to prove you don't have arrears and don't tell LL, other ORs do tell them. Its not something you will know until you have your interview. At this stage I wouldn't let it worry you. Keep paying your rent on time and you should be okay.

Thanks dee. To be honest i never put anything for dry cleaning but have seen a lot put about £20 so thought it was worth a try. The same goes for pets and hol/emergency fund. All depends on the OR on the day. As phil says you don't know unless you try;) .DFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

As I work in The City and have a lot of expensive dry clean only suits I put £25 for dry cleaning. When it was cut and I was negotiating I dealt to the Assistant OR and he told me that the guidelines were £3 or £4's. So again this is where we have inconsistencies in how the OR operates.Namaste DeeDee x0 -
So a bankrupt is only allowed to dry clean one suit per month - and they'd have to shop around to find a dry cleaners that only charges 4 per suit.

I think we're supposed to buy washable only clothes.
I've just had something dry cleaned for the first time in about 10 years. Was gob smacked at the price. Won't be doing that again:rolleyes:The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. I think we are not meant to have as much dry clean stuff as I have
. Because of the work place I am in and 'keeping up with the jones's' I am afraid I spent a lot of money on designer suits. Since going bankrupt I have sold a lot of my clothes and downgraded a bit to washable and I must admit no one has really noticed

I usually take my stuff to the cleaners when its 4 pieces for £9.99 or something. I used to have my children's school blazers drycleaned every half term. They had to be the uniform blazer and it was dry clean only.
