Every Christmas when we were growning up, my dad would make 'blackcurrant wine' from a kit. It was non alcoholic but tasted warm and spicy. We haven't seen it to buy for years and I would love to find some to make my parents as a frugal but thoughtful Christmas pressie.
It's not been the same for poor old Santa since we all stopped leaving him a glass.
Anyone know where I can get it? Thanks.

Would this be yu-lade? You can get it in blackcurrant or in ginger flavours - you dissolve sugar in water and then add the contents of the bottle of yu-lade? One small bottle makes quite a lot of bottles.
If it is, then it is always stocked in our lcoal co-op at about £1 per bottle I think. If this is what you are looking for and you can't find it locally then PM me and I'll see what we can arrange0 -

I don't remember if that's what it was called. I'll do some digging and try to find out from my parents without giving the game away. Never thought to try the co op. We have one reasonably near. Thanks.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

My parents don't really drink. And it's good that the kids can join in too. :jMay all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
We always had ginger yu-lade at christmas when I was a kid, which is why it sprang to mind. I have never tried the blackcurrant one though - the characteristics of the ginger were that it was really almost overpoweringly strong to begin with but either it mellowed or we got used to it (or a mix of both), and it left a lovely warm feeling as you drank it. It was also very syrupy.0
