Cabot Financial?

I have a query concerning a company that contacted me recently concerning a debt that I hadn't really thought about previously..

Following my divorce, back in 2002/3 (not sure of exact date), shortly before I gave up work to go back to uni and arranged through a debt management company (provided by my company) to pay reduced monthly payments on my debts and to have the interest frozen. This covered;

Intelligent finance loan (approx £9,500)
Cahoot Overdraft (now paid off)
Cahoot Credit Card (according to Caboot its £1915)
Cahoot Loan (now approx £5,000)

There were a couple of others which I have paid off.

Since the payment plan started my intelligent finance loan was sold to Robinson Way. No correspondance has been made regarding the Cahoot credit card and for some reason I thought that it was covered in the original payment plan but following my clearing of the overdraft my Cahoot loan was sold to Equidebt.

I have been keeping to my payments to Robinson Way and Equidebt and increased the minimum payment each year to a current level of £20 a month. I'm still at uni (postgrad) and will be for next three years and so have very little surplus income but the company 'Cabot Financial' have now started sending me letters saying that they have recently bought the account I had with Cahoot. The first was a friendly 'welcome to cabot...choice of payments...' and the second included a 'if we dont hear from you...next stage of collections process'...

I personally am thinking that its strange that its only just been sold across and perhaps if I can prove I have made no payment etc for 6 years I could ignore this debt? How do I prove that its out of the official period to be collected? and should I just ignore Cabot?

Also, is it ever likely that Robinson way and equidebt would just write off my debts as they are so old and I'm only making minimum payments? any advice on this would be most welcome too!

Many thanks
