Re-fixed with current lender, no letter ?

Hi,
We've applied on-line to re-fix the interest rate with the halifax. This was 5 weeks ago and we've heard nothing. No email, letter or call.
It wouldn't normally worry me but we've now got defaults as we are on a reduced payment plan to repay our unsecured debt. Consequently if they don't fix we can't go elsewhere.
Just wondered how long other people are waiting ?
