Yes very sorry about that. OP main problem is, as I said trying to time the market. Pacific Assets funds were down approx. 20% over the period in question and investment mistakes have compounded his problem.

I myself have lost a big chunk of my fund that is invested in Pacific assets and Emerging European Markets (amongst others) but at the moment time is on my side and I would hope that these funds will outperform the market. With the benefit of hindsight I could have cashed in 40% capital growth last summer (over 12 months) but didnt.

That isnt how investments work. For example, a higher risk investment would likely have gone down more in this period than a lower risk one. So, does that make the lower risk one better?

I thought that's exactly how investments work. You compare like with like over a given period and, factoring the degree of risk you can accept, along with other personal assumptions, you then make your choice of fund specific to that sector.

I'm not talking just the last 6 months as that's a busted flush. I'm talking about performance over the last N years.

I do wish people would not resurrect old threads without saying that's what they're doing. Unless your attention is drawn to it, you think the whole subject is up-to-date. And in this particular financial climate, it makes it a bit of a nonsense. what happened six months ago is ancient history.
