Hi, i fancy getting myself one of these alarm clocks to help me get up in the mornings through the winter but they're a bit pricey !!!
Can anyone comment on whether they're actually worth the money or if they can be bought anywhere cheaper ????????
thanks.......!!!!

Sunrise alarm clocksThis thread should give you some ideas. I've heard through another website that my suggestion for a £14.50 one has worked for one satisfied reader but my own views are somewhat skeptical as you may deduce.
Have you tried sleeping with the curtains open? It is common sense that you should try to take as much advantage of natural light as possible.
Have you tried a timeswitch and ordinary desk/anglepoise type light? As most of the light affecting your brain enters through your eyes and generally people sleep with their eyes closed you may find simply attaching a time switch to a standard reading light and setting this to come on 30 minutes before you want to get up is sufficient.
A little while ago I was reading a research paper which found that (1000iu of VitaminD 2and a half of these was more effective on the sample tested than the lightbox controls. Will try and find the paper later but busy now. Hi!
Well, if you do read the other threads on this topic, you will see that I have had one of these sunrise alarm clocks for several years, and really like it, whether it has any proven therapeutic effect or not! I just find it a much gentler and calmer way of waking up in the winter months than being jolted awake by a regular alarm, as the light gradually gets brighter and brighter and I slowly become conscious..... It starts me off in a much better frame of mind! :j
I agree that they are pricey, but if mine broke I'd be buying a replacement ASAP[0 -
I've edited my link so it's the one I intended. Too much red wine again.
Here's and even cheaper sunrise alarm Sunrise alarm from Benefitsnow£11.86 It's probably just as effective as the more expensive ones.
However I would like to point out that the fact it also works as a nightlight is totally irrelevant to it's function as a sunrise clock. I am personally concerned about the use of nightlights. The whole point of having a natural body clock cycle is to distinguish between NIGHT and DAY. If you confuse the issue by leaving light on at night then you are simply adding a layer of confusion to you natural cycle. If you don't start with nightlights you never need them. They cannot be good for you.
