(although I can only see a bid of 99,999 - same difference, mind you :rotfl: )
I can only think that in the four hours between our posts, innovate, PB reset the auction, and made the PB page display a reasonable bid, then some other joker comes along and makes a similarly silly (but well-deserved!) bid.
In which case, after at least two micky-taking bids in one day, PB should really get the message that this kind of auction won't work.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
Seven wrote:In my opinion you should just leave pigsback then, you never seem to have anything positive to say about them and it's quite depressing to read your posts at times (about pigsback).
Why waste your energy with them?
However, I think that you wouldbe missing out on a lot of valuable posts.
It would also have been possible for you to do this, and observe one of the main rules of this site ("Please be nice to other MSE-ers") without making the above comments.
I would suggest that many of the commentaries on PB submitted by Kazzea (and myself, too, as another critic of PB) should be welcomed by them, as we ARE their bread and butter, providing the clicks for their clients. Our opinions SHOULD matter, and they SHOULD be grateful for them - getting them, as they do, completely free of charge!
Similarly, if you would like to post about all the good things on PB, they should be equally grateful for your observations.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
Couldn't have said it better, Droopy! :T :T :T
Although I use the 'thanks' button at times, I would also like to take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to Kazzea and yourself for your tireless and unselfish efforts to provide us with daily answers.0 -
I've been reading the Pigsback thread with equal amounts of bemusement and amusement and I have to agree with Seven's comment that if MSErs don't like PB then they don't have to use it! What most people seem to be missing the point here is that PB is FREE. If you're in a household like myself with several family members all of whom have PB accounts then you will be benefiting from either free CDs or vouchers. To complain about getting something for FREE is like finding 10p in the street and then complaining that it wasn't 50p! Of course, PB is not perfect but then what is, but I shall keep using it and taking full advantage of the FREE stuff until it shuts down completely! Lighten up everybody!0

On a lighter note, here's Wednesday's crossword solution. Having said it was an easier one yesterday, today's was quite a bit trickier!
Clue "thousand". Answer, "thou". Yuk.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -

I didn't realise it wasn't "nice" Was more of a polite request to calm down on the moaning about picksback. Although it obviously never came off like that.
Must be me being a little too positive about the situation.
Pigsback is far from perfect but it's not that bad, anyone reading this forum who hasn't already joined pb might be really put off by it and not bother joining?
Sorry Kazzea if you thought I was being horrible, it wasn't meant to be.......This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The site has enormous potential, and, just to show I'm not totally negative, it was good to see so many 10-point click-throughs on Monday, and the new development of the Sudoku puzzle. :j

"Most people"??? Where is your evidence for that?
Please do remember that PB is there to make money for its shareholders/owners. It is not a charity, and it is not a body to whom we should be grateful. It is a money-making business (or it is aiming to be in the future).russellandkatrina wrote:To complain about getting something for FREE is like finding 10p in the street and then complaining that it wasn't 50p!
So I'm not complaining about my grubby 10p. I'm saying that the nice person giving me the 10p should do so without me having to jump through too many hoops, and should be polite to me when I don't understand or accidentally drop the coin. Does that make sense?russellandkatrina wrote:Of course, PB is not perfect but then what is, but I shall keep using it and taking full advantage of the FREE stuff until it shuts down completely! I would love to see the PB site grow and become much better!Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
For maybe a minute or two each day clicking a few buttons you get rewarded (eventually) with either a free voucher or CD. I'm sure that most people really couldn't care less about how much money was invested, who the shareholders are or whether Ronan Keating went to the launchparty! After all, do the general public take such an interest in how, say Tesco or Esso make their money? I think way too much hot air is being wasted on this topic so I'll let you get on with it!0

I think it would be fairer to say that "most people" who use the Pigsback website regularly have noticed that they don't need to pay for using it.
Some have also realised that by doing so, Pigsback is making money, and quite a considerable amount, too, going by the €500,000 profit they made in Ireland in their last financial year.0
