Car Loan - Worried

My Husband and I are looking at getting a new-used on finance with my old car as deposit (prob get around £600).
We have a mortgage with GMAC (well had, it has know moved on to another company). Our credit has not been the best, when we were younger we got in loads of debt but have gradually clawed our way out of it.
We got quite a good deal with GMAC on the Mortgage in September 2007 so should we go with them for car finance, are we more likely to be accepted?
I would be gutted to get to a dealer and be declined.
