I think I've won!!!

I got a phone call from a nice lady telling me I've won a prize with Studio 64 for two people worth £300. We get our hair styled, a makeover and some photos taken. I have to put down a deposit of £49 per person which will be refunded when we arrive.
This is my first win so can someone reassure me that it's genuine?

Hmm, to me, a prize is not a prize if you have to pay a deposit to get it.
kateabDefinitely NOT the blogger at Katie and the Kids, OK?0 -
I would be quite cautious here. Re-read the terms and conditions and see if it says that you have to deposit this amount anywhere. If not, just explain that this was not part of the T&C.
It would put me off if someone asks me to put down about a 100 quid  , even as a deposit!!0 -

I did one of these with a different company, it was a nice day, not quite as pampering as they lead you to believe. I had a free picture as part of my 'prize' but boy oh boy do they give you the hard sell to buy more. I actually had some nice pics so I succumbed to paying for 1 too, but it can be quite intimidating if you are not resolute. They also take the deposit you've already paid off the items they're trying to sell to make it sound cheaper. Be warned! Nice day out if you're savvy, avoid if you cave in under pressure!2008 wins £4405 2009 wins £7194 2010 wins £9615
Best wins ever: Laptop, £1000 John Lewis vouchers, PS3, Xbox 360 iPad Mini :beer:0 -
Thanks everyone. I've just read through a few threads from a few different forums about this prize. It seems that there's a pretty hard sell on the photographs which start at nearly £100 each and people have come away having spent over £1k that they couldn't afford.
Sensibly I didn't give card details over the phone, she's going to phone me back next week and I'll politely bow out. Apparently they have a whole room full of telesales staff phoning people who have 'won'. I didn't think it was something that I'd have entered a comp for.
I'm hoping that the phonecall I missed from Suzuki is better (and that they phone back, of course).Debt Free: 01/01/2020

I couldn't agree more with this statement!!!!
I also "won" one of these with a different company and almost (I'll explain in a mo) ended up out of pocket because of their dark room sales pitch where they literally kept me for hours  The day was also quite shat, around 10 people turned up all with a friend (they'd had also all won first prize  ), the champagne reception was flat bucks fizz out of mugs, and the make over was no better- no one listened to what we wanted and all of us had poker straight hair, really dark brown eyeshadow and bright purple nail varnish all done by the same girl who hardly looked qualified with her shaking hand  The photographer was a perv and made me feel like I was doing an adult shoot  And the pic which focused in on my bust proved that :rotfl:
I ended up walking away with over a £1000 worth of pics on CD
and cried the whole way home about how I would pay for them... Anyhoo, they kept chasing for payment and then they seemed to back off once I mentioned the police
And just to add that the disc went in the bin!!!! I hated every single one of the pics- I looked like a drag queen
SO please do approach with caution- don't be afraid to say NO
