    Hey - that's great!

Why not add to your signature and break down the debts, so as each one is whittled away you can see it here - you could even leave them on and mark as paid.

Well done. Every little helps and if you add up all the small amounts you save on things it will add up to a good amount. Keep it up.

Do you have to have mobile phone insurance? How much is your phone worth, and do you take good care of it?

I cancelled my £5 a month insurance and that's saved me £310 so far. If I have to buy a new phone, I'm still up. When you consider that you can get a phone for as little as £20, £7.99 is quite a lot.

    Hi waterbaby,
I have a motorola - couldn't tell you off the top of my head how much its worth but I do take care of it and (touch wood) have never lost one.
Think I may follow your advice and cancel my insurance.
    Thanks for the tip.

Unrelated question - how do you go about getting a picture underneath your name and where do you get them from.

    Thanks

    Jen

Can't really help with financial advice as most things seem to have been covered.

However, I can help with something! Yay! The picture underneath the name is called an 'avatar'. Do a Google search and it will bring up loads to choose from. The largest size you can have on this site is 80 by 80 pixels (or 19.5kb). To upload it, you will need to go into your control panel and click on 'Edit Avatar'.

    HTH :)

You have to stick to your guns though, cos insurance is big business to them. (hence why not to have it!)

When I bought a new phone I said I didn't want insurance, and they wanted me to sign a piece of paper to say that I didn't want insurance. I thought it a bit odd, but did it as it was true anyway, and never thought any more about it.

Some time later I read that it is a tactic to make you buy the insurance - signing for it is like accepting responsibility, signing your rights away (its not at all) so you are more likely to buy the insurance.
  • have cancelled the insurance and am writing a letter to the company so that is me 7.99 richer per month! I'll keep slowly chipping away!!!
