Hi there, I've been wondering something for a while now and hope that someone could help! I'm coming up to my Bankruptcy falling off my credit file along with everything else, I have been told by Natwest who I tried to get a credit card from that once it disappears from my file I no longer need to say yes to "have you ever been bankrupt" because there will be no record of it with any of the credit reference agencies!!! A few people have said this now, Is this true do you think?

Hi,
You dont have to tell anyone that you have been bankrupt, but if a form ever asks have you ever been bankrupt you have to say yes even if it's no longer on you credit file. As if you fail to give correct information then you have broken the terms and conditions of the agreement due to false details on the form.0 -
There will always be a record of your bankruptcy, NEG - on the London Gazette, although it will fall away from your file on the Credit Reference Agencies. I am unaware of any company who would do a search on the London Gazette - I suppose they are entitled to, and some doubtless will - but, personally, I would not put my bankruptcy on any form, unless it specifically asks the question 'have I ever been declared bankrupt?'
As far as I am aware, and certainly on the forms that I have seen, the question is usually: 'Have you, in the last six years, been declared bankrupt?'I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
