Any advice greatly appreciated!

Hi all,
I have been reading the threads and looking at all the challenges and people's amazing achievements for a while now but have only just joined the site.
I have £15688.69 of credit card debt and a reasonable credit rating (can't get any more credit though so no interest free credit cards for me!)
I want to get myself out of debt - which has been created by setting up my own business, living on nothing and getting married - and I want to do it under my own steam by paying back every penny. The problem is I am paying ridiculous interest on the credit cards I have and, as I said above, I can't get any more cards for balance transfers and I can't get a bank loan to consolidate (don't earn enough regularly). I work hard on two jobs and do freelance work whenever I can but I'm keen to earn as much as possible and maximise my income. This is why I'm posting...
Currently I sell stuff on ebay and I have signed up to sliethepie (and done a few reviews although they seem to keep failing when processing which is very annoying!). I've also signed up and been accepted for gapbuster but haven't had the guts to do a Mystery Shop yet as it seems a bit scary and technical (stop watches etc!)
I just wondered if anyone had any other ideas of ways to make extra cash? There are lots of things mentioned on the threads but I don't understand some of them! I'm really desperate to get moving so any help would be ace!
Thanks in anticipation!

Hi fbb - and welcome to DFW.

Can I suggest that you post your SOA (Statement of Affairs) listing your income, expenditure and debts.
Then you will be overwhelmed with helpful suggestions.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

  • I will do asap. It's a bit tricky for me as I don't earn the same amount every month because I work for myself. I've been doing consultancy work for the last year but that ends in Sept so feeling a bit scared. I'll try and put an average down of what I earn each month...what I do is quite seasonal. Sorry to be a pain! Thanks for the welcome! x

Hi if your income varies then work on the minimum. Also keep a spending diary, it will help stop impulse spending.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
