Roof is leaking!!

WIth the very heavy rain recently, H noticed that the roof is leaking. Called the LA, and they sent someone round yesterday. He took one look and said it's going to need a proper roofer to check out tiles and everything like that.
Searching for DDs purse, I stuck my hand down the back of the sofa that is in the hallway (long story, but couldn't get it into the living room, and the hallway is huge so it's there  ) The leather seems fine, but the whole inside is soaked - major EWWWWW moment shoving my hand down there as it's all squishy and nasty
Called the LA and said do we claim on our contents insurance or on theirs, and they are going to get back to me. But I wanted to ask for advice from you gang of knowledgeable people. It's not our fault the roof was leaking, so will it be on their (owners/LA) insurance??

Can not really help but from my point of view it would be better on theirs as your premium will go up at renewel due to making a claim.DFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

It should be on theres as the cause was because of there roof leak which you are not responsible for so stick to your guns on this as like others have say you may have to pay even in the long run if you claim on yours.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

Check your tenancy agreement, Merry, but I'm pretty certain that a leaking roof (and resulting damage) is the LL's responsibility.
And get the hair-dryer out!0 -
