HFC/Beneficial hassling me

As it says really, I have explained my situation and that I can't pay at the moment, and they have sent out a financial statement for me to fill in, I have that now and need to sit down and work it all out.

Thing is, they are still phoning, just had a call from them now, told her I don't want any more calls, just letters, which they have been sending anyway, and she got quite shirty saying I have to pay something now, this being after I had told her the situation.

What can I do about this, should I fill in their soa or should I go to the CAB and get them to sort it out?

It is all such a mess and I am totally in despair now, felt good at the beginning of the week after my we victory with the bank and now back down again. :(

  • HFC can be quite harrasing. surely if they have sent you an SOA form they cannot expect you to make the payment. In the small print on my loan i had with them it said that if i missed payment for 21 consequtive days they may seek bankruptcy which i thought was harsh. personally i think that they are just trying to frighten you into paying something

    hi
hfc were one of my creditors and tbh they were the worst. They didn't actually DO anything, but the phone calls etc were very intimidating.

If you have an advisor from a free charity that is helping I would go and ask them to deal with it on your behalf. If you deal with this on your own , just sit, take your time and fill inthe soa from hfc.

Do not do any thing in haste, or agree to pay oput more than you can afford.
I think, as a smaller creditor, they will need the agreement of Black horse to make you bc, and this is a long drawn out affaire that none of them really want to do, they are just trying to frighten you and the call center people are trying to earn their commision.

If the phone calls are getting to you, change your number. I know its a hassel etc, but it was the best thing we ever did. Write and tell all of your creditors that you will no longer be contactable by phone. Or just refuse to answer any of their security questions, that can drive them mad!!!
    good luck

  • Thanks for the advice, I broke down in tears to my MIL at the weekend who has been down staying with us, she has given me £100. which will get it back up to date and stay the execution as it were!!

I am then going to go and see the CAB and see what they suggest, that is on Wednesday, so at least when I start sending letters etc they will be up to date!! :p

Post up a copy of your SOA and we'll see if there are any savings to be made.

There is a letter you can send to stop the harrassing calls. If they phone, just tell them all communication must be in writing.

  • Thanks George I will do that.

I am not going to the CAB now, mother in law is sending me another £100 and my parents gave me £80. today, this means that I will now be up to date with payments.

They have also said they will look after my children if I can get a part time job, and they won't charge me!! So things are looking better now, just need to get that job, Tesco's here I come!!

I will still do the SOA though as I do need to budget a lot more so I can get things sorted and paid off, have learnt my lesson the very hard way! :o
  • All changed again!!

My husbands uncle has lent us the money to clear my cards which is fab!! And no rush to pay him back either, so I told HFC this today when they phoned despite me telling them not to, and got the total balance due, told them it would be paid by end of next week when the cheque clears.

I also asked them to stop phoning me, again... she says they can't not phone, they have to ?

And then she started on about how I am in financial difficulty and they hadn't heard from the CAB and I should check with them etc, all this AFTER I told her that we were going to clear it

    Do they not listen?

A letter of complaint will be winging it's way to the customer services dept along with a copy of my dr's cert for my depression.

  • Thanks marcus, but I'm not out of the woods yet, it's only my cards he's paying, I'll still have the loans which are more than I thought, off to change my signature now.
