Fuzzy/induction/Zojirushi rice cookers

Considering getting a Zojirushi fuzzy logic or induction rice cooker.

Apparently they cook better rice, the fuzzy logic varies the heat and cooking times, and the induction is more sophisticated still and cooks 100% uniform rice.

We cook jasmine and basmati rice, several times per week, and would be replacing a cheap Kenwood model.

Does anyone have experience with posh rice cookers? (The top-of-the-line induction cooker is about £165 inclusive of shipping from the USA and can germinate brown rice before cooking.)

I've eaten rice made in Zojirushi rice cookers
Only it was a type called Koshihikari
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koshihikari
Short grain rice ..It sticks together more than Basmati ...this helps when using chopsticks .
I was thinking of getting this one

It is only £21.00 inc postage .

The rice cooker I mentioned in the previous post arrived today.
Not cooked with it yet ,But it looks very good ,well worth the money.
It is branded Royal Doulten ..I would think it is an Asian re-brand .
It looks very similar to the ones I have used before .It has Fuzzy logic .You can also use it as a steamer .For things like Chinese buns or Dim sum .
Well worth the money compared to other ones I have seen in UK .This one is much bigger .
  • I found a nice website which sells Zojirushi fuzzy logic rice cookers for use in UK and Europe. Their website is www.yumasia.co.uk. Meester mentioned about buying a US one, I think these run on different power so wouldn't work in the UK?

Anyway I'm really happy with my rice cooker, so I thought I'd help you guys out in your search.

Tried in vain to find the Zorjurushi rice cooker in the UK. The Yumasia web site doesn`t have any available. Cost of buying from US and then having to buy a step down converter (extra approx £70) makes it too expensive. Thought the Sanyo one might be OK but can`t get one of them either!
    HELP
Want a small version 3 cup,so any (available) recommendations please.

I have had a Sanyo 3 cup for several years and I love it, has a keep warm function, came as a gift to me from Japan. I think that if you can visit an Asian grocers they will probably have reliable rice cookers...otherwise they have them in Argos, there is even one in the current catalogue which claims to be a slow cooker as well, can't remember price, mine will be in euro anyway so better to have a look in a UK catalogue.

Living in the NWHighlands of Scotland I am not able to get to any Asian shops so am still looking for that perfect rice cooker off the Internet!
Looking at the reviews of the various makes there seems to be a lot of cookers which either spill over or burn/catch the rice on the bottom.
So difficult to decide which is the best one to buy. The best ones don`t seem to be available in the UK!......
  • Remoska does really nice rice. I had a steamer that was great too but remoska is more versatile.

am I missing something here??? why would you need to buy some special, and seemingly expensive, equipment to cook rice, surely not very ms. what is wrong with a saucepan?

    My thoughts entirely.

1 part rice, 2 parts cold water. Bring to the boil then put a lid on a turn right down for 10 minutes. Ta-da... perfect rice.
