Emigrating mid tax year, need some info

In my days you had to make sure that you stayed out for a complete tax year. i.e.go in July 2009, don’t come back before 6 April 2011 and the form P85 which you will have to complete to claim your repayment still seems to say the same. There is a P85 here http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cnr/p85.pdf
However I recall seeing advice from others in other threads which suggested different. I also see the IR20 refers to an absence of 3 years.
I’m really sorry but I cannot answer with any confidence.0 -
ok thanks for your help. Its been helpful.
I think I will ring the tax office to clarify the situation as I need to let them know about the house in the US anyway so I have to self assess this year.
Thanks for all your help guys.
I will post their reply once I get around to ringing them0
