For November I've got £38 to spend on myself. Which I could easily fritter away without realising. My target is NOT to go overdrawn.
So I found a notebook and decided to keep a log of exactly what I spend.
Usual week: 5 x deli baguettes @ £1.80 each. Crisps/cake @ 50pish. Magazine @ £3.80. Total: £13/14 ish.
This week: Made soup on Sunday using left over veg and lentils, so not bought any lunch this week. Good for diet too!!
Spent: 99p on birthday card, and £1.80 on New Home card (cheapest in the shop). Total: £2.80!!!!
Won't need to spend any at the weekend as kitchen is full of stuff!
I feel renewed!

Keeping a price book is an excellent idea - not only will it build up so you can compare prices for different stores but, it will focus your spending habits
Tip: Keep your eyes open for cards when you *don't* need to buy them - especially if they are on sale - you can buy a year ahead and just keep them in a page in your diary for when they are needed.
Keep up the good work!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ooh, that's a good idea! Never thought of that. I'm usually so disorganised I only remember to get a card just before the last post. That's sounds so much better.New year, no debt! Debt free date - 02/01/07 :j :j :j0

I go to our local market and buy birthday cards for the year for the whole family, then I know I have them all in, if I need more for different things I just buy as I need them. I never spend more than 50p per card..... cards get thrown away, not everyone tears them up and uses then for shopping lists, job lists etc.........

I bought a box of cards from Costco a few months ago. Got 30 'Luxury' cards (read - have sticky bits and fancy doodles on them!!) for about £9.00 I think. There's selections for every occaision and they're really nice. They come in a lovely storage box and have a 'diary' included for writing down all the dates of occaisions you'll need them for. FabulousI'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0

Excellent work Alfietinker! :T :T
I am beginning to make my own cards - I started with some of those easy card kits from Lakeland (anyone would think that we've got shares in the place!) and now I'm trying to branch out. Reckon my cards are costing around the 50 - 70p mark now.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0
